I believe that urban planners in various cities must have had some sort of obsession with Tetris when they were younger. Unfortunately, they have mixed up more generations of the game and implemented it in their urban planning work. The consequent results often appear like two different versions of Tetris gone wrong. See it for yourself below in the collection of urban Tetris photographs.

SantiaGO Tetris
Santiago de Chile was the city that originally sparked the whole Tetris idea. With the impressive Andes mountain range in the background and its colonial architecture, Santiago had the potential to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Developers and urban planners however had a different idea.
For some reason, the best that they could come up with was to throw modern towers among the city’s historical beauty to hide its undeniable character. The modern buildings then randomly appeared as if they have fallen from the skies in some bizarre Tetris error. Urban planning at its worst ):
Global Urban Tetris
To be fair, I must say that the Global Tetris element is not a speciality only Santiago can be mentioned in connection with. In some places, such as in Dresden for example it’s more gentle, in other places it’s rather brutal, such as in many cities in Central and Eastern Europe, and so on. Here are some other examples from South America I have encountered:
Buenos Aires
Montevideo
Bogotá
Cali
Lima

If I see another Tetris, I’ll upload some more pics and I would also welcome if you could help me to enrich this collection further, in case you were up to sending me some photos.
